Because they got a decent education, the well-fed people learned how the world isn’t divided tidily down the middle like an apple. They knew all sides of everything. About rich and poor, black and white, vegetarian and carnivore, war and peace, destitution and indulgence. To have such a broad perspective of the world was not a benefit but a heavy burden."
